The Thing (2011) Movie is about the discovery of an alien craft at a research site in Antarctica. The finding of that alien craft has led to fast pursue of the alien life form. Dr. Sander Halvorson is a scientist involved in that discovery along with his student Kate Lloyd. In facing the finding of that alien craft Dr Sander has different point of view with his student Kate and they get into confrontation each other. Kate Llyod, played by Mary Elizabeth Winsted, joins a team of scientist from Norwegian as they discovered a crashed extraterrestrial spaceship deep down in the ice of Antarctica. Along with the ship, those scientist also found a creature that seems to have died in the crash.
However, bad thing happens as the experiment has accidently freed the alien from its frozen prison. The Alien then flee away and start killing people and imitating them. Apparently the alien has the ability to mimic any life form it absorbs through digestion. Team up with the crew pilot Carter, played by Joel Edgerton, Kate Lloyd pursues the alien and tries to stop it from killing people and reach civilization.

It seems that the movie makers have tried to avoid the competition or the comparison between Kate and Kurt Russell’s image in the Thing (1982) movie. The character of Kate Lloyd seems to be more like Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in the Alien movie series.
Joel Edgerton played as Sam Carter. Sam is an American helicopter pilot who runs a supply operation to the bases. Sam and his two co-pilots never get to know about why they are sent to that place and about what is actually they are carrying.
